Most dogs never get the chance to hold a position in local government.
But a little lost dog — possibly a Shih Tzu mix — was king at the Limestone County Commission Annex Thursday.
Employees in the office are trying to find the owner of the dog, who has been temporarily named “C.C.,” which short for County Commission.
“He is so loving,” County Administrator Pam Ball said. “When we get up and walk, he wants to follow us around. When I picked him up, he laid his head on my shoulder.”
C.C. came by the County Commission office by way of an Athens hair salon.
“Sherry Batts at Que Lindo Styling Salon found the dog running around the street Thursday,” Ball said. “I go down there about every day on my lunch hour, and she told me about it so I brought it up here to the Commission Office.”
The dog, whose milk-chocolate fur appears to have been recently clipped, was soaking up the love in the office most of the day Thursday.
Employees said they didn’t want to take him to The Dog Pound, which is the city’s and county’s home for lost or unwanted pets.
C.C. planned to spend Thursday night with employee Bonnie Key, who is head of data processing and, apparently, lost dogs.
If you are C.C.’s owner, please call the Annex at 256-233-6400. It’s too late for him to qualify for the March 13 primary election anyway.
