Woman accused of stealing from mom

— A woman accused of stealing jewelry and two checks from her mother’s home has been charged with theft and forgery, records show.

Shelby Lynn Collier, 20, of 1601 Elm St., Apt. 39, Athens, was arrested Monday on charges of first-degree theft and second-degree  possession of a forged instrument, Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said.

Collier is accused of taking two checks and jewelry valued at $2,950  from her mother’s residence on Schilling Street sometime between Feb. 1 and 26, Johnson said. The Police Department received the complaint Feb. 28, 2013.

Investigator Eric White investigated the case and made the arrest, Johnson said.

Collier was booked at the Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
