— A tree limb caused a line to break Tuesday morning in west Athens, leaving 1,007 without power.
Athens Utilities Customer Relations Manager Amy Golden said 999 of those customers were without power for 1 hour and 14 minutes. Eight customers were without power for 3 hours and 58 minutes.
Customers who have registered their phone number and address with Athens Utilities can report power outages by using the IVR system, which automatically recognizes the phone number and sends that information to dispatch so crews can receive notification quickly. The number to call is 256-232-1440.
