The West Limestone girls basketball team will play Saturday for the chance to advance to the Final 48 state tournament after coming back to defeat J.O. Johnson 53-44 in the Northwest Regional Tournament semifinals Thursday morning at Wallace State in Hanceville.
The Wildcats trailed 25-22 at halftime but used balanced scoring to complete the comeback. Autumn Bates led West with 11 points, while Laura Easter and Bugg Grizzard each scored 10. Kayla Carter and Shelby Clay added nine points apiece.
Clay also had four steals and seven rebounds, Carter had five rebounds and Grizzard dished out four assists.
Rayven Pearson led the Jaguars with 14 points, Le`Sequa Hawkins scored 12 points and Nyla Pressley added 10.
West will play the winner of today’s Brooks-Oneonta game at 12:20 p.m. Saturday in the regional finals.

The West Limestone boys fell to J.O. Johnson in the regional semifinals this morning as the Jaguars shot nearly 55 percent from the field.
The Wildcats, who were held to 28.6 field-goal shooting, were led in scoring by Austin Tuten with nine points. Kyle Casteel tossed in eight points, and Nathaniel Adams added six points and five rebounds.
Keon Ray led the Jaguars with 15 points, and Charles Woodward added 11.
J.O. Johnson will face the winner of this afternoon’s Butler-Brooks winner at 2 p.m. Saturday in the regional finals.
