— Barry Matson, center, deputy director of Alabama District Attorneys Association, spoke to Athens Rotary Club members recently about the new Alabama Computer Forensic Laboratories. Four laboratories have opened throughout the state including a training facility in Hoover for law enforcement, judges, and prosecutors. Funded mainly through the U.S. Secret Service agency, the facility trains officials throughout the country on cyber crime. “An average of $85 billion is lost each year in phishing scams,” said Matson. “Our mission is to seek justice for the citizens of the state.” Trends in crime scenes not only include physical evidence but also now may include digital. Shown with Matson are Jeanne Anderson and Eddie Alley.
