• Yard sale. True Grit Cowboy Church will host a fundraiser yard sale, bake sale and raffle Aug. 17-18 at 21149 Sharp Road. Contact: 256-431-2219.

Revival. Friendship Stateline Freewill Baptist Church at 13363 Stateline Road in Taft, Tenn., will host a revival through Aug. 17, featuring evangelist Glyn Pool. Youth event. New Life Church at 2314 S. Hine St. is hosting Youth S.W.A.G.G (Shouting and Worshipping About God’s Goodness) Night at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17. Youth Pastor Adrian Davis from All Nations Church in Huntsville will be guest preacher. The Decatur Youth Enrichment Choir and the St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America Youth Choir of Decatur will be musical guests. The St. James Hip Hop Dance Team will also minister. Pastor appreciation. St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at 18049 N. Jefferson St. will host an appreciation day for Pastor Wesley D. David celebrating his 11 years of service with services at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19. Pastor Howard Middlebrook and the congregation of St. Peter M.B. Church will be in charge. Anniversary. Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 95th anniversary Aug. 19 with a service by Pastor Damon T. Betts at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m. by John Jude and Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America of Athens. Contact: 256-852-5397.

Extravaganza. Westside Church of Christ at 25704 Smithfield Road in Elkmont will host a Summer Gospel Meeting Extravaganza Aug. 19-23. On Aug. 19, worship is at 10 a.m., Bible study at 11:15 a.m., lunch, 12:30 p.m., afternoon worship, 2:30 p.m., featuring guest speaker Kenneth Fleming Sr. of Louisville, Ky. Weeknight events will be at 7 Monday-Thursday.

Homecoming. Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church at 27971 Easter Ferry Road in Lester will hold its annual homecoming celebration Sunday, Aug. 19. An essay reading about Mt. Nebo will be from 11 a.m.-noon. At noon, Pastor Adric lane and New Revelation Baptist Church from Nashville, Tenn., will be in charge of worship. At 3 p.m., Pastor Gabe Jolly III and the Hopewell Baptist Church form Rienzi, Miss., will be in charge of worship.  Lunch served. Contact: 256-233-5225.

Pastoral anniversary. Poplar Creek Missionary Baptist Church at 16031 Poplar Creek Road in Athens will hold its 18th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration honoring the Rev. Clarence M. Johnson and first lady Donna Johnson Aug. 19. The celebration guest at the 11 a.m. worship will be the Rev. Joe Canada of Tunica, Miss. The guest at the 3 p.m. worship will be the Rev. Endia Scruggs, pastor of Madkins Chapel C.P.C.A. in Huntsville. Contact: 256-729-8852.

Woman Day. The Antioch Cumberland Presbytery Church will hold its annual Woman Day at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19.  Speaker will be Elder Mahalia Warrner of New Hope C.P.C.A. Church.

Revival. Bright Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America at Mooresville-Belle Mina Road will host a revival at 7 nightly, Aug. 20-22. Pastor Lester Baker of New Zion Primitive Baptist Church will be guest preacher. Contact: James Moore 256-355-6253.

After-school care. David’s Temple will hold an after-school program for anyone in the community from 2:30-5 p.m. beginning Aug. 22. Cost is $10 per week. Homework, reading and math skills. Contact: 256-355-1343.

Day of Love. Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America will hold a Day of Love and give away free food and clothing boxes at the corner of Plato Jones and Browns Ferry streets from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Contact: 256-216-0660 or 256-233-5995.

Pastor installation. Bright Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America at Mooresville-Belle Mina Road will install the Rev. Katherine Baker as pastor at 2 p.m. Aug. 26 with the Rev. James Robinson and the Huntsville Presbytery in charge. Contact: James Moore 256-355-6253.
