An Athens woman injured Monday in a deadly accident on U.S. 72 in Limestone County is listed in fair condition at Huntsville Hospital.
Rebekah Sanders, 24, was recovering at the hospital Wednesday following the head-on collision, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The driver of the other car, George Alan "Al" Roberts, 48, of Athens, was killed in the crash.
Huntsville Police Officer Harry Hobbs said Tuesday Sanders had surgery on her left leg and that her injuries were not life threatening. Sanders had initially been reported as critically injured when her 2003 Honda Civic was struck by a 2002 Misubishi Gallant driven by Roberts near Bryan Hill Road. Officials have not yet determined why Roberts lost control of his vehicle.
The funeral for Roberts, who owned the Access Automotive dealership on U.S. 72, will be at 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church of Athens.
