Black ice possible this morning; sunshine returns today

— An unfamiliar sight – sunlight – will be visible throughout the day today as the forecast calls for sunny skies and highs in the upper 40s.

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement that says freezing fog and black ice could affect travel conditions this morning. That threat will diminish after 10 a.m., however, as temperatures climb to above freezing.

The biggest threat for black ice will be found on bridges, overpasses and elevated highways. The NWS warns that drivers should not assume a well-traveled road will be free of ice.
