MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (AP) — Officials say an expansion of a Walgreens customer care center in Muscle Shoals is expected to be announced Wednesday.
Muscle Shoals Mayor David Bradford tells the Florence TimesDaily (http://bit.ly/Oiijdz ) that a "significant jobs announcement" will be made at 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall. He said the announcement involves Walgreens' operation in the city.
Walgreens built a call center operation in 2004 at Southgate Mall. The facility processes customers' prescriptions and sends them to pharmacies, where they are filled. Walgreens has nearly 250 workers at the site now.
Bradford said the company now plans on expanding, and officials are pleased they chose Muscle Shoals for the project.
Details of the expansion are expected to be announced at the news conference.
