Residents who plan to vote in the Nov. 2 general election have until Friday to register, said Limestone County Probate Judge Mike Davis.
To register, residents must go to the Board of Registrars Office on the second floor of the courthouse annex building on Clinton Street. The Board of Registrars is also where residents should make any address changes to ensure they vote in the correct district, Davis said.
“I want to encourage everyone, prior to the election, to consult the Board of Registrars Office to determine where they should vote and what offices they are eligible to vote on,” Davis said. Candidates for some seats will appear only on ballots for residents of that district.
The last day to apply for absentee ballots is Thursday, Oct. 28. Apply at the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office on the first floor of the courthouse.
Election officials also are reminding voters of the new method of filling out ballots. In previous years, residents drew a line from the candidate’s name to complete an arrow. Beginning in the primary election, voters fill in a bubble to indicate their candidate of choice.
“We need to emphasize to them that it is important that they fill in the oval beside the person’s name to ensure that the vote counts,” Davis said. “We had great success with that in the primary.”
