CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) — Gov. Robert Bentley is visiting more Alabama communities to get a firsthand look at the state of tornado recovery a year after the April 27 twisters.
Bentley will be in DeKalb, St. Clair and Cullman counties on Wednesday meeting with survivors, first responders and officials involved in the long-term recovery from the storms.
In Cullman, the governor will be at a restaurant that was destroyed by a twister. The owner is planning a grand reopening of the Busy Bee Cafe to coincide with the anniversary of the storms.
About 250 people died statewide last April 27 when more than 60 tornadoes ripped through the state. Bentley is spending the week in areas that were hit by the twisters.
