A man accused of manufacturing methamphetamine at a residence was arrested by Athens Police Tuesday.
The arrest of Stephen Michael Morrissey, 28, of 418 Everette Drive, Decatur, on charges of unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance comes nearly two months after the investigation began.
In late-October, Athens Police Investigator Mickey Hart and Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Josh McLaughlin were notified of a strong odor coming from a residence at 309 Longview St. in Athens.
When investigators checked the residence, a while male identified as William Lord attempted to flee the scene. He was apprehended, however, and charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.
Investigators recovered a meth lab and 20 grams of methamphetamine from the residence. After an investigation, Hart obtained a warrant for Morrissey.
Following his arrest, he was booked at the Athens Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail. He was released Tuesday on $55,000 bond.
