An Elkmont man was killed Monday night in a one-car crash on Alabama 127, about 1 mile north of Elkmont.
Limestone County Corner Mike West said the man was identified as Daniel Reeves, 33, of Happy Hollow Road.
West said the crashed occurred about 8:51 p.m. when Reeves lost control of his vehicle, hit a culvert and then hit a telephone pole. West said he was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash knocked out power to 700 Athens Utilities customers. General Manager Gary Scroggins said workers were able to isolate the outage to the area around the pole and restored power to the last few customers shortly after midnight.

The Limestone County Board of Education approved the contract for Garth Garris, 44, during Tuesday’s board meeting. Garris was named the new principal of Ekmont High School, and he begins work June 24.
