VIDEO: Authorities seek burglary suspect

From staff reports

— Limestone County authorities are seeking information about a man suspected in a string of local burglaries.

Sheriff Mike Blakely said the man burglarized the Clements Mini Mart Tuesday night. Athens Police Lt. Trevor Harris said his department is also investigating four business burglaries that begin at midnight Tuesday and continued on Wednesday morning.

The suspect may be driving a silver or light-colored four-door vehicle with a hubcap missing from the right-front tire.

Harris said rocks were thrown through the glass doors and windows of two gas stations, an insurance agency and a restaurant. The suspect may have also sustained a cut during the burglaries because police found a “significant amount of blood” at one of the scenes.

A 19-minute video provided by the sheriff’s office shows what appears to be a white male with a medium build inside the Clements Mini Mart committing the burglary. The man wrestles with the store’s cash register before finally getting it unplugged. He is then seen taking the register out of sight.

The suspect is wearing a black ball cap with a red bill. There is also a gold sticker on the bill of the cap. The suspect is also wearing khaki pants, a navy blue long-sleeved pullover and is wearing one black glove on his right hand.

Anyone with any information about the burglaries is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 256-232-0111 or Sgt. Jason Threet at the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.
