ARDMORE —
An Athens woman was injured Friday morning in a rollover accident near Ardmore after her truck tire ruptured on Interstate 65.
Ardmore Fire Chief Tim Toone said the motorist, identified by state troopers as Maya Smith, 35, was southbound on I-65 when the left rear tire of her 1992 Chevrolet pickup blew. She lost control of the truck, which left the highway, flipped and landed upright in the median between I-64 and Upper Elkton Road, Toone said.
The accident occurred about 7:10 a.m. at the 364-mile marker on I-65, a trooper said.
Smith had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken by ambulance to Athens-Limestone Hospital, Toone said.
Her condition was not available Friday afternoon.
