— HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) — A judge in Huntsville has signed an order allowing a mental health expert access to a teenager accused of killing a fellow student.
WAFF-TV (http://bit.ly/XQ0MQR ) reports that Circuit Judge Karen Hall issued the order to allow Dr. Paul O'Leary to see Hammad Memon. Court documents say Memon's attorneys plan to use an insanity defense at trial.
Memon was 14 when he was charged with murder in the 2010 shooting death of another 14-year-old student, Todd Brown, at Discovery Middle School. He's now 17 and being held in jail without bond.
A trial date has not been set.
