I am seeking the office of probate judge of Limestone County so that I can serve the people of Limestone County in another capacity.
I have the experience as a judge to make good decisions. I have been making decisions that affect the lives of others for 40 years as an army officer in combat, a state trooper, ABI agent and as Athens municipal judge for 16 years.
In the Athens Municipal Court, I have adjudicated more than 100,000 cases.
As a father, I raised three successful daughters — all of which completed college and have jobs — after their mother died in 1992. Two of my daughters, Jessica and Rebecca, graduated from The University of Alabama. Sarah, my middle daughter, graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy.
I was married to Terry Hargrave in 2002. Terri has two sons — Jeremy and Justin Pepper — who attended East Limestone High School and the University of Alabama. Both are now medical doctors.
I attended Athens High School, Calhoun Community College, the University of Alabama and Birmingham School of Law. I worked full-time while attending college and law school.
I want to open many of the files of the probate office and make access available online. I know some files such as commitments and adoptions are not public access files, but real estate records, estates and others should be accessible online. I will work to update and modernize these records.
