Those who enjoy naming their price at a silent auction will have the opportunity to do so this weekend, all while helping Habitat for Humanity of Athens-Limestone County.
The goal of the event, to be held Saturday, is to raise funds for the Habitat organization and for an upcoming women’s build project that will utilize female volunteers only.
The auction will be held at the ReStore, located at 17505 U.S. 72 West, across from Collins Supply. Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the event starts at 9.
“It takes about $60,000 to build a house from start to finish, but we’ve raised a little bit of money toward that,” said Amanda Garlen of HFH, who added she’s been with the local group for three months. “It’s certainly been an eye-opening experience, but in a positive way.”
Some of the items to be auctioned include gift certificates to local businesses, antique furniture and dishes, new items from local businesses and a green bicycle from Regions bank. There will also be food available for purchase and live music from Christian acts The Terrys, Dwight Posey and Blind Refuge.
Garlen said the event will also showcase a 5,500-foot expansion of the ReStore. The business sells a mix of new, used and donated items and is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
