County arrests

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department reported the following arrests Monday:

• Gary Lee Amerson, 41, of 20064 Townsend Ford Road, Lot 20, Athens, driving under the influence

• Luis Michael Castro, 19, of 550 County Road 511, Lexington, military desertion

• Christopher George Edwards, 29, of 2341 Belmore Lane, Birmingham, DUI and improper lane use

• Eric James Hunter, 22, of 304 S. Hine St., Athens, third-degree criminal trespass

• Connie Lyzette Johnson, 38, of 13658 Albert Road, Athens, disorderly conduct

• Christopher Michael Mueller, 23, of 110 W. Koenig St., Grand Island, Neb., first-degree receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing justice by using false name; tried to run from and to fight deputies; also had outstanding warrants; companion Lisa Marie Punteney, 19, of 12237 Gail Ave., Omaha, also charged with first-degree receiving stolen property and giving false name to law-enforcement officer

• Travis Wendell Nelson, 39, of 2106 Luke St., Athens, third-degree criminal trespass

• Victor Claudio Ortiz, 32, of 1304 N. Jefferson St., Athens, public intoxication

County thefts

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Department reported the following thefts Monday:

• One television, two DVDs, clock and storage container, total value $235, stolen Wednesday from the 1000 block of Old Railroad Bed Road

• High Standard brand .22-caliber revolver stolen June 27 from the 19000 block of Alabama 127

• Tackle box with fishing tackle, total value $125, stolen between June 29 and Thursday from the 9000 block of Sergeant Holden Lane

• 20-horsepower Mercury brand outboard motor valued at $500 stolen between June 29 and Thursday from the 14000 block of Dogwood Circle

• $35 in cash stolen Thursday from the 21000 block of Piney Chapel Road

• 1999 Ford van of undetermined value stolen Saturday from the 27000 block of Keaton Road

• Boat battery valued at $175 stolen from vehicle between June 28 and Saturday from Blue Springs Drive

City thefts

The Athens Police Department reported the following thefts Monday:

• $100 cash stolen between Wednesday and Friday from 1101 U.S. 31 South, Room 130

• $50 stolen June 30 from 119 U.S. 31 South

• 10 pieces of clothing and shoes, total value $90, stolen Friday from Walmart at 1011 U.S. 72 East

• Radio-frequency modulator valued at $17 stolen Friday from Walmart

• Window and Motorola brand green cellular telephone, total value $100, damaged or stolen during a burglary Saturday at 1414 Tower St.

• Mongoose brand blue and silver bicycle, Next brand orange bicycle and Chaos brand green bicycle, total value $350, stolen Saturday from Frazier Street

• Two window screens and a door lock, total value $130, damaged due to criminal mischief between June 21 and Sunday from 515 S. Hine St., No. I-30

• Assorted clothing valued at $87 stolen Sunday from Walmart



Wrecks

• Carol L. Bellenfant, 29, of Athens was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 6:02 p.m. Friday on U.S. 31 North, between Cactus Street and Freeman Avenue, according to Athens Police.

• Two Athens residents and a Tennessee man were injured in a three-vehicle accident at 6:05 p.m. Friday on Blackburn Road, five miles east of Athens, according to an Alabama state troopers. Sherrill Schrimsher, 61, and his wife, Joyce, 59, were injured along with a passenger in one of the other two vehicles, Jonathan Word, 10, of Minor Hill, Tenn.

The injured were wearing seat belts, the trooper said.

Athens-Limestone Hospital reported no admissions or discharges Monday.
