Pettusville decoration day

Pettusville Cemetery homecoming and decoration day will be today, beginning with an 11 a.m. church service led by former pastor Andrew Dressler. Donations for cemetery upkeep may be mailed to: Marcus Hobbs, 26965 Pettusville Road, Elkmont, Ala., 35620.



MONDAY

Hospice benefit

Proceeds from Sweet Peppers Deli’s grand opening, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday at Eastside Junction in Athens, will go to Hospice of Limestone County.



Lemonade for MS

The Birdie Thornton Center will host a lemonade stand to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society Monday through Friday, June 22-26. The center will have lemonade and cookies each day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. served by clients. Call Heather Kyle at (256) 431-6552.

Used book sale

Friends of the Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday at the library.



WEDNESDAY

ASU blood drive

Athens State University will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday in Sandridge Student Center Ballroom. Bring a photo ID. Call Tena Bullington at (256) 233-8243.



THURSDAY

Arts camp deadline

Registration deadline is Thursday for Art on the Square Children’s Art Camp for ages 7-12. A filmmaking camp will be Saturday, June 27. Register online at www.aot-athens.com or call (256) 444-8156.



1-day art, cooking classes

Registration deadline is Thursday for a 4-H summer cooking class and a 4-H summer art class. Cooking class is from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, June 30. Art class is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Thursday, July 2. Both are at the Limestone County Extension office. $20 fee includes lunch and snacks plus beginner’s cooking kit for cooking-class participants. Call (256) 232-5510.



Red Cross meeting

Limestone County Red Cross annual meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at 1300 Armory St. Call Kathy Harland at (256) 232-6820.



SATURDAY

Market grand opening

Ardmore Farmers Market will hold its grand opening Saturday morning, June 27, off Alabama 53, behind the Pizza Hut. Events include a vendor’s drawing at 8 a.m., ribbon-cutting ceremony and flag presentation at 9 a.m., Master Gardener information table at 10 a.m., and live bluegrass music at 11 a.m. The market will be open Saturdays from sunrise to 1 p.m. Call (256) 423-8872.



Daylily sale

The North Alabama Daylily Society will host its annual plant sale in the parking lot of The Greenery at Hampton Cove subdivision in Huntsville from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 27. Variety of colors, sizes and types available below market price. Club members will answer questions about care and use of daylilies in gardens or landscape. Call (256) 233-4354.



Doggie bath day

Helping Our Pets in Limestone County will sponsor a doggie “splish-splash bath” day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Heritage Propane at 17026 U.S. 72 West, across from West End Chevron. Proceeds will help feed, vaccinate, spay or neuter, and shelter pets of local families with limited income. Cost is $5 for small dogs; $10 for medium dogs; and $15 for large dogs. Dogs must be on a leash. No aggressive dogs. No haircuts or nail trimming. Each participant will receive $5 off a 20-pound barbecue grill cylinder from Heritage Propane. Call (256) 431-5784.



Richardson reunion

Owens Senior Center will host a Swamp John dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9. Tickets are $10. Proceeds go to the senior center.



Alzheimer’s cookout

The Alzheimer’s Support Group will host its annual cookout from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, at Limestone Manor off U.S. 31. Hamburgers and hotdogs provided; you bring potato salad, baked beans, chips and dip, desserts or other sides. For more information, call Amanda Duffield at (256) 232-8697.

• W.L. Band Boosters. West Limestone Band Boosters meeting has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, June 22, in the band room.
