'Six Million Dollar Man' to appear at UNA film fest

FLORENCE — “The Six Million Dollar Man,” Lee Majors, will be among the special guests for the 2009 George Lindsey UNA Film Festival March 5-8 in Florence. As a special guest to the film festival, he will join veteran actor Rance Howard, whose scheduled appearance at the festival was announced last week.

The time and place of Majors’ appearance have not yet been determined.

An actor of international importance, Majors has created and maintained a successful career and has continually proven himself to be a favorite of audiences worldwide.

Majors’ performances and personas have made an indelible impact on television programs, from his initial role of Heath Barkley on “The Big Valley” to the “Men From Shiloh” to “Owen Marshall Counselor at Law” to “The Fall Guy” and “Raven.”

It was his starring role as Steve Austin on the overwhelmingly popular “The Six Million Dollar Man” that made Majors an icon and part of American culture. The show was a television phenomenon on the ABC network.

Majors has performed in more than 30 motion pictures, the most recent being “Conflict of Interest” with Michael Madson. He is now looking forward to his next project, “The Story of Bonnie & Clyde,” with his friend Tonya S. Holly, who is producing and directing. He also has two television pilots for series that are in development.

Majors lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Faith, and continues to work steady in the television and motion picture industries. He worked with George Lindsey in Holly’s “When I Find the Ocean” and looks forward to honoring Lindsey at the festival.

Majors follows several major celebrity guests at the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival, including Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton in 2008 and Oscar winner Ernest Borgnine in 2007.

The George Lindsey UNA Film Festival is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey’s own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
