An Athens man and woman were injured in a one-vehicle rollover accident at 4 p.m. Thursday approximately seven miles north of Athens on Hays Mill Road, according to State Troopers.
Driver Adrianne Barrios, 22, of Athens and passenger Kyla Watkins, 18, of Athens, were both injured. According to emergency rescue personnel scanner traffic, Watkins suffered severe head and facial trauma after being ejected from the 1998 Isuzu SUV. Neither person was wearing a seat belt.
MedFlight from Huntsville was called and was unavailable. AirEvac from Florence was then called and could not fly due to weather.
The victims were transported by ambulance to Athens-Limestone Hospital and then to Huntsville Hospital.
