The Alliance for Limited Government will host a candidates forum in the old City Council chambers at 203 N. Marion St. in Athens at 7 p.m. Monday, May 19.
Guest speakers include the 2008 candidates for U.S. Congressional District 5: Republican George Barry, Republican Cheryl Baswell-Guthrie, Democrat Parker Griffith, Republican Mark Huff, Democrat David Maker, Republican Angelo Mancuso, Republican Ray McKee and Republican Wayne Parker.
The candidates will give a short presentation of their platform, after which the meeting chairman will present a number of questions on key issues such as immigration, eminent domain, and real ID, among others. The audience will be allowed to question the candidates.
This forum is presented to give voters a chance to get to know the candidates’ positions before voting in the upcoming June 3 primary and in making informed choices in November.
