Man, mattress blown from truck

— Athens Police responded Tuesday afternoon to a call of a man who fell out of the back of a moving truck onto U.S. 31 South near the intersection of Armory Drive.

Chief Floyd Johnson said the man was in the back of the truck holding on to a mattress when wind blew both he and the mattress out of the back of the truck. The man’s wife or girlfriend was driving.

Initial dispatch reports said the man was unconscious, but Johnson said he refused treatment at the scene and proceeded on.

“They got the mattress loaded back up and they were on their way,” he said.
