Litter challenge
Dear Editor:
I just want to say Amen to the article written by Kelly Range and published Sunday, June 14.
Litter is a huge problem in our city and county. I would like to go one step further and challenge the citizens of Athens and Limestone County to clean up litter around their homes and even across the street or road from where they live.
Take pride in your community.
Thanks again, Mr. Range, for your article.
Sincerely,
Marcia Thomas
Athens
Thanks for community support
Dear Editor:
The 2nd Annual Athens Ladies Civitan BlueGold Golf Classic was a great event again this year. Civitan is a service organization dedicated to working and supporting people with developmental disabilities.
In Athens and Limestone County, Ladies Civitan works with the Limestone County Mental Health Center and the Tanner High School Special Needs Department. On the international level, we provide funding to the Civitan Research Center, where they are studying more than 27 areas of central-nervous-system disorders.
The Civitan International Research Center and Civitan Sparks Center focus on service, education and research, and assist many residents of Limestone County.
We would like to thank The News Courier for publicizing the event. We also thank the many area businesses that made donations to support the tournament. We deeply appreciate those who were hole sponsors, cart sponsors and level sponsors, with special thanks to our event sponsors — McClary Ford, 100.3 – The River, and Railroad Bazaar.
Appreciation to Canebrake and a special thank you to the golfers who participated.
Sincerely,
Pat Lewis
Athens Ladies Civitan Club president

I have never heard so many outright lies, propaganda put out trying to brainwash the middle class into voting for them again in order for them to make janitors out of our children and low paid slaves out of everyone else.

Dear Editor:
I am very pleased that the mayor, after the last City Council meeting, has emphatically assured me that there will be no changes in the fire codes or city ordinances regardless of who requests it.
On to a new subject — politics. Our nation is full of suffering, angry, people who need somebody to blame for their pain. - Letter to the Editor 11/20/11
