Back by popular demand after five sold-out shows in 2009, “Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story” will show once again Sept. 10-12 and Sept. 10-19 at Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center in Huntsville.
Researched, written and directed by award-winning playwright Ron Harris, “Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story” is a multimedia production that tells the rich history of Huntsville through the lives of real people who labored in the city's textile mills.
Dramatizing actual events that occurred in Merrimack Mill Village and using rare photographs and film footage, the play traces the lives of three young boys beginning in 1911.
“Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story” is dedicated to Charlie Foster, and all the children who labored in the city's textile mills. His memory lives on each day at Merrimack Hall, where some say his footsteps can be heard in the gymnasium, and the whispers of his laughter and whistling echos through the hallways.
Tickets for “Upon Their Shoulders: The Merrimack Story” are $30 for adults, $27 for seniors (60+) and $25 for groups (10+).
