Two Limestone County residents recently visited The News Courier with an unique item.
Kathy and Wayne Newman brought in what is thought to be a copper printing plate.
They know it has to be more than 50 years old.
“It was in the house where I was raised,” Kathy said.
However, any other information is left to the imagination.
“We have been unable to find out anything,” Wayne said. “That is what we are here for to see if you can help us with any kind of leads.”
Kathy said she knows the automobile on the plate is Model T and the item also shows a man — possibly in a racing or test pilot uniform — and what appears to be the undercarriage of a test plane or rocket.
It’s believed to be a printing plate because items on the surface are printed backwards.
Also, if it is a printing plate, there was most likely only one created.
But, what does it all mean?
Kathy said her mother recently passed the item down to her. For many years it stayed in the loft of the house where she was raised. She said it was left alone during the years and was recently brought downstairs.
“It was in the house when they (Kathy’s parents) bought it,” Wayne said.
The Newmans said they plan on keeping the item. They just want to find out its history or if its worth anything.
Those who have any information about the item, can email Kathy Newman at kjoannewman@yahoo.com.
