Former Athens resident Paul Montgomery recently earned an Air Force-wide award for his work as an Independent Duty Medical Technician.
Montgomery, who graduated from East Limestone High School in 1999, was recently named non-commission officer IDMT of 2011 by the Air Force, where he serves as a technical sergeant.
Montgomery made a career of the Air Force upon graduating from East Limestone, where he played offensive and defensive lineman under football coach Phil Cavner.
Montgomery and his wife, Amanda, live in Spokane, Wash., and have a 14-month-old son, Hunter.
His parents are George and Marianne Montgomery of Athens.
