The Athens State University Alumni Association continued their “spirit of giving” recently by donating more than $2,000 worth of equipment to the College of Business.
One of the items is a display case for the entrance of Sanders Hall.
Faculty had been telling Dr. Linda Shonesy, dean for the College of Business, about a need to properly display recognition plaques and awards.
Some of the awards also recognize student organizations such as the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
“As a College of Business graduate, it was my pleasure to be a part of something that would help students and faculty while furthering the goals of the college,” said Lance Davis, special projects chair.
Over the last three years, the Alumni Association has given to the College of Arts and Sciences — Waters Hall, College of Education — McCain Hall, and pledged $25,000 for the Beaty-Mason home.
“We want to encourage other organizations, graduates, community leaders and individuals to recognize the positive impact that Athens State University has on our community,” said Alumni Director Trish Di Lullo. “Supporting the efforts of our faculty, students and the president is a top priority for the alumni association.”

Restaurant learns online reviews can make or break
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — It was the customer service disaster heard around the Internet.
An Arizona restaurateur, fed up after years of negative online reviews and an embarrassing appearance on a reality television show, allegedly posted a social media rant laced with salty language and angry, uppercase letters that quickly went viral last week, to the delight of people who love a good Internet meltdown.
"I AM NOT STUPID ALL OF YOU ARE," read the posting on the Facebook wall of Amy's Baking Co. in Scottsdale, Ariz. "YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW GOOD FOOD."
