Holiday shoppers should begin check- ing their gift list and getting ready for the annual Christmas Open House in Athens.
The event, organized by the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Com- merce and Spirit of Athens, will be held all day Saturday, Nov. 17, and from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18.
Organizers promise a weekend of unique shopping, yuletide fellowship, and holiday fun.
Participating businesses will offer in- store specials, refreshments, and door prizes.
All door prize entries will be included in the grand prize drawing for a Scott Kay
sterling silver and 18-carat yellow gold, blue topaz, garnet, and smoky quartz necklace from Hobbs Jewelers. The win- ner will not have to be present to win.
Participating businesses include Ben- nett’s, CEI Bookstore, Claborn Special- ties, Crawford’s, Gray & Holt, Hendricks- Patton, Hobbs Jewelers, Hyatt & Sims, Kid’s World, Limestone Drug, Pablo’s, Pi- mentos, Sav-a-Life of Limestone County, SheaLeigh’s/MEWS, Southside Pharma- cy, Sweetest Things Tea Room, Trinity’s, U.G. White, and Village Pizza.
Community sponsors include ASU Center for Lifelong Learning and Athens- Limestone Hospital.
Christmas Festivities will be held in downtown Athens during the two-day event.
Activities include carolers and enter- tainment, cookies from Mrs. Claus, activ- ities for kids, and carriage rides around the Square will be available for $5 per person with Fancy Traveling Carriage Rides.
Santa will arrive by fire truck at the Center for Lifelong Learning, located at 121 S. Marion St., from 1-4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
