Members of Athens State University’s Center for Lifelong Learning believe that Elvis is alive and are hoping he will enter their building.
In fact, organizers are encouraging the community to join them for an Elvis impersonator contest at the All Shook Up Kickoff Party.
The party will take place from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, in the center’s lobby at 121 S. Marion St., on the east side of the Limestone County Courthouse Square in Athens.
To enter the Elvis impersonation contest, call 256-233-8260.
Participants don’t have to be a professional to enter. They just need an admiration for the King and a willingness to be in the spotlight.
Organizers encourage all Limestone countians to put on those blue suede shoes and biggest belt buckle and join in the fun. .
The kickoff party will prelude the All Shook Up swing dance classes scheduled for February and March at the Center for Lifelong Learning.
Jump, jive and learn what dance moves would make Priscilla blush with instructor Dwain Cooper. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the Lindy, Jive, and the East Coast or West Coast Swing.
For registration information about all the classes offered at the Center for Lifelong Learning, visit www.athens.edu/CLL or call 256-233-8260.
