The producers of MTV’s three-time Emmy-award-winning series, “MADE,” are currently casting for the college-version of the program. Producers have their sights set on a possible Calhoun Community College student who might want an opportunity to change the rest of his or her life. The MTV crew will be on the college’s Limestone County campus from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, to conduct casting calls with interested Calhoun students.
According to the producers of the series, it is designed to help make a student’s wish come true. Producers said there are tons of students out there with unlimited potential. But in these difficult times, some are having trouble figuring out what their next step in life should be.
The series’ aim is to help create opportunities for these students to find their path. Some may have a great education, but need real world experience. Or, perhaps they need the inspiration to follow their true passion. In every episode they will have to make hard decisions and determine if the risks are worth the reward.
“We were contacted by the show’s producers last week regarding their interest in conducting a casting call on campus, and we were excited to be asked to be a part of the process,” said Dr. Kermit Carter, Calhoun’s dean for Student Affairs. “Having seen episodes of the current high school version of the series, I was of course familiar with the program and feel that it represents the students, which have been highlighted in a positive light.”
The casting calls usually last around four hours, but it depends on the turnout. Each individual interview is about 10 minutes. There will be one or two members of the MTV crew at the interviews.
After the casting process, the interviews will be reviewed in the New York offices. The interviews are not for broadcast. If the producers are interested in a student from Calhoun, they will speak with them, their families and the college before moving forward.
Interested students are required to complete a questionnaire and schedule a time for their interview as soon as possible.
For more information, contact Dr. Kermit Carter at 256-306-2613 or email klc@calhoun.edu or visit the website at www.calhoun.edu/mtv.
