Athens High School art students recently painted lockers for the upcoming Hospice Chili Challenge and Silent Auction.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Athens High School.
Tickets to the event are $10; free to children ages 10 and under.
Participants will have the opportunity to taste chili recipes from more than 30 area groups and individuals as well as bid on hundreds of items in the silent auction.
Items include jewelry and accessories, lessons and services, sporting goods, lawn and garden, entertainment, home furnishings, children’s items, antiques and collectibles and fine arts.
Musical entertainment and children’s arts and crafts activities will also be a part of the annual event. Performing throughout the day will be the Athens Dulcimers, Grant Aday and Charles Williams, Clear Title and the Sophisticated Swingers.
The event is Hospice of Limestone County’s sole fundraising event for the year. In the past, Hospice has been called “the house that chili built.”
Proceeds from the Chili Challenge help support the Home Respite Program, Indigent Program and Bereavement Program, including Camp Hope, a one-day program for children who are coping with grief.
For more information, contact Hospice of Limestone County at 405 S. Marion St. in Athens, at 256-232-5017 or visit athenslimestonehospice.org.
