Mr. and Mrs. James DeWitt Garrett III of Athens announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Brittany Garrett, to Stewart Daniel Whitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Ray Whitt of Athens.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Travis Franklin Raney of Athens and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dewitt Garrett Jr.
She is a 2005 graduate of Athens High School and a 2008 graduate of the University of Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Science degree and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University and will graduate in May.
The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Nelson Whitt of Athens, Bill Whitehead of Knoxville, Tenn., and the late Norma Humphries Whitehead.
He is a 2003 graduate of Athens High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Alabama where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and was a member of the golf team. He received his Master of Science degree in family financial planning and counseling from the University of Alabama in 2008. He is employed by First Financial Group of Huntsville as a wealth planning specialist.
The wedding is planned for March 10 at Wightman Chapel in Nashville, Tenn.
