ELECTION 2012: Charles Woodroof, probate judge candidate

— For the first time in 30 years, you, the people of Limestone County, are electing a new probate judge.

You deserve a probate judge experienced in all areas of probate law and qualified to handle all responsibilities of the office. However, these responsibilities extend beyond making decisions in court hearings.

As the county’s chief election officer, the probate judge must uphold the integrity of the entire election process. He must also organize and maintain various records and documents. As stated in its official seal, the motto of the office of probate judge is “to serve the people.”

Since returning home to practice law in 1996, I have worked almost exclusively in probate matters. I have personally spent hours searching title records in the probate office in preparation for closing residential and commercial real estate transactions. I have prepared countless last will and testaments and formed many business corporations.

I have worked closely with numerous families through emotional matters such as involuntary mental commitments, guardianships, conservatorships and administration of estates when loved ones pass away. I have also shared in the excitement of assisting families in adopting children or buying their first home.

Therefore, my work at Woodroof & Woodroof Attorneys at Law has provided me invaluable experience in all areas of probate law. Perhaps just as vital, these experiences have taught me the importance of listening to people in order to assess their situation and to provide guidance and counseling.

I have been blessed with the opportunity of helping others for more than 15 years. I now desire to expand that role by serving all the people of Limestone County as probate judge. If given that honor and privilege, you can be assured the office of probate judge will be organized and held to the highest standards of honesty, integrity and dependability.
