Election 2012: Limestone County Circuit Court Clerk candidate Brad Curnutt

— I have taken a leave of absence from my current position (lieutenant investigator) at the Limestone County Sheriff's Office to seek the office of circuit court clerk.

The decision to run for this office was given much thought and prayers. I decided that I could work hard and help our clerk's office continue to operate efficiently and help our community.

I have served as a reserve deputy, corrections officer, deputy sheriff, DARE/SRO officer, investigator and lieutenant investigator. I worked my way to the top by working very hard and proving myself on a daily basis.

I have served the citizens of Limestone County faithfully over the years by working cases day and night, on weekends and during holidays. Your next clerk must be available 24-7, and I have been doing this for years.

My involvement in law enforcement over the past 18 years has given me the knowledge of how the court system and clerk's office work together. The clerk must know the laws to help citizens as they come to the clerk's office with a problem. I have the background to help you when you come to the clerk's office with a problem.

I will be able to advise you how to handle and resolve your situations. I have helped numerous victims of criminal, civil and domestic cases over the past 18 years. Many of these were tough situations, but, these experiences have developed my decision-making skills that will be required of the clerk.

I fully understand that both sides need to be heard and treated fairly. I believe you are to treat others as you want to be treated. I also plan to create a website to modernize the clerk's office.

I worked very hard over the summer mowing lawns and campaigning at the same time. I found this to be very humbling and it really makes you appreciate everything that you have.

I am highly qualified to do the duties expected of me and I want to continue serving the citizens of Limestone County as your next circuit court clerk. I ask for your support and vote on Nov. 6.
