TANNER— Landon Stephens knew what was on the line for him and his Tanner team as they took the field against Red Bay last Saturday night.
With a win, the Rattlers would secure a home-field advantage for the first round of the playoffs, locking in second place in Class 2A, Region 8. A loss would put them at third and have them traveling for the first round.
The sophomore quarterback also knew if he didn’t play well, he would let his team down.
But Stephens helped Tanner defeat the Tigers 21-7. He rushed five times for 83 yards. He also scored two touchdowns on runs of 54 and 14 yards.
“With what was on the line for this game, it was a big motivation for me to play my best,” Stephens said. “I just knew I had to hold on to the ball and take care of it.”
