CAPSHAW — After suffering back-to-back losses to Hartselle and Athens during weeks three and four, Manley Carpenter knew his team had to bounce back against Ardmore last Friday.
After constantly being reminded throughout the week of the outcome of last year’s game, the senior quarterback and his East Limestone team cruised to a 55-20 win over the Tigers.
Against Ardmore, Carpenter rushed three times for 60 yards, scoring two touchdowns on runs of 5 and 54 yards. He connected for two touchdowns on passes of 15 and 47 yards.
For his efforts, Carpenter has been selected as this week’s Crunch Player of the Week.
“I thought we did pretty good,” Carpenter said. “We played hard. Those two losses were hard and we knew we had to bounce back and keep playing. Overall, we executed better and didn’t make as many mistakes.”
