Benefit car wash


A benefit car wash for 9-year-old Owens Elementary School student Colby Alred, who has been diagnosed with leukemia, will begin at 7 a.m. Friday at Advance Auto on U.S. 72 in Athens. Proceeds got to Alred and his family. May also donate in Colby Alred’s name at Redstone Federal Credit Union branches.

Caregivers night out

Respite night is from 6 to 9 Friday at Clements Baptist Church at 8690 U.S. 72 West in Athens. Make reservations at 256-232-7207 by noon Thursday.

LCCI training

Political forum

Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church, 207 East Washington, is sponsoring a sale of potted chrysanthemums to benefit the church’s multi-cultural pre-school program. • Athens Garden Club.
Athens Garden Club will meet at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 8, for covered-dish luncheon at Forrest Hills Clubhouse. Call 256-444-0578.

• Retired educators. Athens-Limestone Retired Educators Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Recreation Center. Guest speaker will be Lori Guthrie of Hometown Hospice. A covered dish luncheon will follow. Meat, drink and utensils will be provided.

• Quest Club. Athens Quest Club will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, with Peggy King as hostess.
