Announcements of church events are published each Friday and Sunday in The News Courier. Church briefs must be submitted in writing, either on a form available at The News Courier office at 410 W. Green St., Athens, or sending e-mail to kelly@athensnews-courier.com or a fax to (256) 233-7753.



o Christmas revival. The Frazier Christian Methodist Episcopal Church's Christmas Revival will be tonight at 6 p.m. Guest minister and choir is pastor Imogene Jackson-Rose and Acklin Chapel C.M.E. Church Choir.

o Anniversary. Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its anniversary with services at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. The 11 a.m. service will be led by the Rev. Gregory Woods of Gurley Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and Greater Hope Brotherhood Chorus. The 2:30 p.m. service will be led by pastor Larry Lockett Sr. and New Hopewell Baptist Church of Tanner.

o Winter revival. New Life Baptist Church will host a two-night winter revival at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, and at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7. Pastor Kenneth Lankford will be guest preacher at both services. Fletcher's Chapel Church will lead Sunday's worship; St. Mark Church Choir will sing Monday.

o Testimonial. Tim Greene, former singer with the Greene Family gospel group, will be at Greenbrier Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6. He will share, in testimony and song, how the Lord healed him of toxic mold poisoning, which paralyzed him for six years. The church is at 7939 Greenbrier Road in Madison.

o Christmas program. David's Temple Missionary Baptist Church presents Christmas 2009 Sunday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. at the church on Stewart Road in Tanner. Five different skits will tell the Christmas story. The skits are entitled "Meet the Angels," "The Inside Scoop," "Merry Christmas, Jesus," "Who Says God Doesn't Like Fruitcake?" and "Digging Up Christmas Past." The skits were arranged by Shellia Battles and Geraldine McDonald. Music is by the praise team.

o Deacons ordination. Little Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church will hold an ordination service for deacons at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church at 16439 Lindsay Road in Tanner. Pastor Larry Locket of New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church is speaker. Music by New Hopewell choir.

o Christmas musical program. Alabama Fork CPCA Church will hold a Christmas musical program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at the church at Alabama 127 North in Athens.

o Special afternoon. The Rev. Michael Ervin of Alexandrian House of Prayer will host a special afternoon at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Hope of the Nations Ministries at 208 W. McClellan Ave. in Athens. The afternoon is supposed to include: God's word via The Holy Ghost, prophecy, deliverance and healing.

    Coupon clipping
    Athens High School Future Business Leaders of America will host a coupon-clipping class from 6-8 tonight in the Athens High School cafeteria.  Tickets are $10 each in advance and may be purchased from any AHS FBLA member or by emailing Lori Jones or Brandi Foster at brandi.foster@acs-k12.org or lori.jones@acs-k12.org. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Open to anyone interested in information about the Relay For Life Limestone County event May 11-12. Food available for small donation. Gifts and door prizes. Committee meeting follows at 7.
