Christmas Open House

Christmas Open House will be held at participating businesses in Athens all day Saturday and from1-5 p.m. Sunday. Festivities downtown include photos with Santa, carriage rides, and entertainment. For more information, call the Chamber at (256) 232-2600 or

Donnell bazaar

The Donnell Log Cabin Christmas Bazaar is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Chili will be for sale at $2.50 a pint; $5 a quart. There will also be gifts, decorations and baked goods.



Miss Merry Christmas

Limestone County Miss Merry Christmas pageant will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCandless Hall on the Athens State University campus. Contact Jennifer Janzen at jennifer.janzen@lcsk12.org if you want to compete.



Carolers, singers needed

Anyone who would like to be a caroler or singer at the Downtown Athens Christmas Open House Saturday and Sunday should call Trisha Black at (256) 278-6436.



Club House open house

The Boys & Girls Club's Club House Café will have Christmas open house Saturday and Sunday each day until 5 p.m. The café is also taking orders in store by phone for hams, turkeys and casseroles. The café is at 121 S. Marion St. Phone (256) 232-5545.



Benefit stew

Precision Defense Systems is sponsoring a chicken stew at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 17198 U.S. 72 West, next to the Water Authority building. There will be helicopter rides. All proceeds will be given to the family support group for the 203rd National Guard Military Police unit from Athens.

The Lincoln Bridgeforth Park Committee is accepting applications for booth rentals for a Nov. 28 Charity Flea Market. A booth is $35 for all day. Call (256) 874-0287.

Athens-Limestone Hospital Auxiliary will have a $5 jewelry sale Nov. 23-24, beginning at 7 a.m. each day in the Education Department.



WLVFD turkey shoot

Masonic turkey shoot

North Border Masonic Lodge will have a turkey shoot and chicken stew at 9 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Sheriff's Arena at Alabama 99 and Elm Street. Stew will be ready at 10 a.m. Call Mickey Robertson at (256) 232-2335.



'We interrupt this program'

Tickets are on sale at $5 each for “We Interrupt this Program …', a tribute to Pearl Harbor veterans, at the Veterans Museum and Athens Senior Center. The program will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at the senior center.



Elkmont chili cook-off
