Benefit stew

There will be a benefit chicken stew and bake sale beginning at 10:30 a.m. today at Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department to help pay funeral expenses of Cindy Adams. Make checks payable to Pleasant Grove VFD or Vicky Thomas.



Habitat open houses

Habitat for Humanity will host two open houses at 305 and 318 Adell Street from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Refreshments will be served at 305 Adell Street.



Ball family reunion

AHS Band Spirit Night

Athens High School Band Spirit Night at Chick-fil-A will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday. Athens Chick-fil-A will donate a percentage of sales to the AHS band. Please fill out a spirit card available from band members or online at www.athenshighband.com and turn it in when you place your order so the band will receive credit.



TUESDAY

Trick-or Treat for food bank

Limestone County Career Technical School student organizations, FBLA, HOSA, and SKILLS USA will be dressed in costumes and trick-or-treating for canned goods and non-perishable items from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday in various subdivisions. The donated items will benefit our local food bank.



Used book sale

Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the library.



Toys for Tots signup

Toys for Tots signup will be from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the United Way office, 419 S. Marion St. Each family must bring birth certificates, Social Security cards and proof of residence for children age birth to 16. An additional sign-up day will be Nov. 10. Relay for Life kickoff

There will be a Relay for Life Kickoff Party from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Family Life Center. Activities will include a costume party for children under 10. Call event chairperson Monica Davis at (256) 874-6646.

Vendors needed

Vendors are needed for the Nov. 14 Santa’s Village and Marketplace at Brookhill School. Vendor fee is $40 and includes a 10-by-10-foot space with table, two chairs and two meal tickets. Applications are online at brookhillelementary.org or in the school office. Call (256) 233-6603.

Spot the History

AHS band stew tickets

Athens High School band is selling chicken stew tickets through Oct. 30. The cost is $5 per quart. Stew may be picked up Nov. 10, 11, or 12 in front of the school. Please see any band member or band parent for preorders.
