North Border breakfast
North Border Lodge will have a country style breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. today at the Salem Lodge on Salem Field Lane. The public is invited for food and fellowship.
4 Paws and a Book
A program dedicated to improving reading skills of children ages 5 and older, called 4 Paws and a Book will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. today at the Houston Memorial Library in Athens. Children can bring their own book or read a favorite of Miss Sophie Grey, a Yorkshire terrier, who will be present for the program. To schedule a time to read, call the library at 256-233-8770.
Talent show
Winter Talent Show featuring acts from North Alabama and middle Tennessee is scheduled for 6:30 tonight at Athens Bible School’s Rollings-Lovell Auditorium. A suggested donation by the promoters of $5 per person will go toward scholarships for area students attending Florida College in Temple Terrace, Fla. The event is sponsored by the North Alabama Florida College Booster Club.

MLK ceremony
The Lincoln-Bridgeforth Park Committee will host the 16th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Athens. Rescue Squad yard sale

Senior centers activities
