Farm Heritage Days

The 20th annual Piney Chapel American Farm Heritage Days will be held today and Saturday at 20147 Elkton Road in Athens. Show grounds open at 9 a.m. today and 7 a.m. Saturday. Features steam engines, antique tractors, cars, trucks, horse-drawn equipment and more. Free parking. Respite Night

SATURDAY

Benefit breakfast

The Bethel, Tenn. Lodge 194 F&AM will serve a buffet breakfast to benefit charity from 7-9 a.m. Saturday at the Lodge building. Public invited. Nonperishable food items are being collected for the food bank.

Coffee Call

Antioch Cemetery

Salem Cemetery

Lentzville Cemetery

Sandlin Reunion

Used book sale

The Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 405 E. South St. Contact: 256-232-1233.

Cruise-In

The monthly Cruise-In on the Square will be held Saturday at the Limestone County Courthouse. Antique vehicles will be parked around the Square. Food and shopping are also available. Contact: Tom 256-457-9179.

Kiddie Carnival ends Saturday

The Athens-Limestone Kiddie Carnival final weekend is from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2-4, at Forrest and Beaty streets. Kiddie Carnival has 10 rides for kids including Ferris wheel, swings, rocket ships, roller coaster and the train. Each ride is 50 cents. Concessions and bingo also available.

Reading program and festival

Cowart Elementary School on Hobbs Street is in need of gently-used items for use as prizes to support their accelerated reader program — toys, games, action figures, dolls, sports equipment, cars, trucks, books, stuffed animals, etc. Drop off at school 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays or call for pickup. T-shirt design contest

The deadline is Aug. 20 for The Art On the Square T-shirt design contest. Entries are being accepted only from K-12th-grade students in Athens and Limestone County. Winner receives free T-shirt, $100 cash and publicity from Art On the Square. The contest theme is the music genre, The Blues. Art must be at least 8-inches by 10-inches in a portrait/vertical format. Mail to P.O. • Healing Hearts. The Healing Hearts Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, in the Education Department at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Call 256-233-9536 to sign up. The group meets the first Monday of each month.

• Farmer’s Cooperative. The annual membership meeting of the Limestone Farmer’s Cooperative Inc. will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Tennessee Valley Substation picnic area in Belle Mina. Door prizes. Barbecue dinner follows meeting.
