o Cookbook sale. Round Island Baptist Church has published a cookbook featuring 695 recipes from church members. Cookbooks are on sale for $15 each. Proceeds benefit children, youth and missions ministries. To buy a book, visit the church office from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays or call (256) 233-1230.

o Teaching series. The New Life Church presents its February teaching and preaching series Ballin' Believers: The Game of Life Taught from a Basketball Perspective. Pastor Antoyne Green preaches illustrative messages using the game of basketball each Sunday in February at 2314 South Hine Street. Services begin at 9:15 a.m. The public is invited.

o Benefit. Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church on Hine Street will hold a benefit for Jayden Jamar Turner at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6. The event will feature various choirs, soloists, quartets and praise teams. For more information, contact Latoya Horton Carthen at (256) 431-6442.

o Valentine's tea. St. Mark Primitive Baptist Church at 740 Sanderfer Road in Athens will hold a Valentine's tea at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13. Special guest is Wenda Flowers. For more information, call (256) 233-2786.

o Valentine's ball. Christ Way Church will host a Valentine's Ball from 5 -10 p.m. Feb. 13, with dinner at 6 p.m. This is a formal/semi formal event. o Ushers' anniversary. Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church in Belle Mina will celebrate Ushers' 49th Anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Guests in charge of service will be Ronnie Patton and Mt. Lebanon P.B. Church of Gurley. The public is invited. For information, call (256) 350-6093.

o Healing service. Hope of the Nations Ministries in Athens will host a service featuring miracles, signs and wonders at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14. Guest speaker is Dr. Roderick Howell, pastor of Kingdom Way Christian Center.

o Black history. Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church will hold its annual African American history Celebration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17. The theme is Appreciating the Past, Embracing the Present and Forging the Future. The speaker will be Dr. Ann Roy Moore, superintendent of Huntsville City Schools. Music provided of Aeolians of Oakwood University.

o Benefit singing. Full Gosple Tabernacle will host a benefit singing at 5 p.m. Feb. 20 for Mark Coffman, who has had surgery and is unable to work. Singers include Working Miracles and Sonlight Heirs. For information, call (256) 729-8046.
