Tornado victim support group


A support group is being formed for victims and survivors of tornadoes. The group will hold its initial meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church at 1418 Old Railroad Bed Road in Madison. Contact: Kathy Strickland at 256-232-3331 or Christa Crabtree at 256-232-0280.

Pancake breakfast

4 Paws and a Book

The 4 Paws and a Book reading experience for children ages 5 and older will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Houston Memorial Library at the corner of Market and Houston streets in Athens. Children can read to Miss Sophie Grey, a registered therapy dog, in the program designed to improve reading skills. Schedule a reading time at the library at 256-233-8770.

Hunger Games party

The Athens-Limestone Public Library will host a free Hunger Games party from 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday for tweens and older. The event includes a discussion of the book, trivia, games, snacks and prizes. Learn about edible plants, and see a knot-tying demonstration. Contact: Kelli 256-232-1233.

March of Dimes benefit


Salon 53 in Toney will hold their second annual Cut-A-Thon to benefit March of Dimes, this year in honor of “Angel Kylie’s Hope,” from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. All hair cuts are $10. Movies at the Museum

Vidalia onions sale

Library page applications

Summer library page applications will be available at Athens-Limestone Public Library March 12-April 21. To be a teen summer volunteer at the library, you must be at least 13 years old by June 1.
