Benefit car wash


A benefit car wash for 9-year-old Owens Elementary School student Colby Alred, who has been diagnosed with leukemia, will begin at 7 a.m. Friday at Advance Auto on U.S. 72 in Athens. Proceeds go to Alred and his family. May also donate in Colby Alred’s name at Redstone Federal Credit Union branches.

Caregivers night out

Respite night is from 6 to 9 Friday at Clements Baptist Church at 8690 U.S. 72 West in Athens. Make reservations at 256-232-7207 by noon today.

SATURDAY

Dems opening office


Limestone County Democrats officially open their 2010 campaign headquarters building at 209 W. Washington St. on the south side of the square at 11:45 am Saturday. There will be a ribbon-cutting, free food and fun. Call Pam Wallace at 256-444-1404.



LCCI training

Tutor training workshop

Used book sale

Friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will have a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the library.

St. Timothy mum sale

Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church, 207 East Washington St., is sponsoring a sale of potted chrysanthemums to benefit the church’s multi-cultural pre-school program. • Retired educators.
Athens-Limestone Retired Educators Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at the Recreation Center. Guest speaker will be Lori Guthrie of Hometown Hospice. A covered dish luncheon will follow. Meat, drink and utensils will be provided.
