• Free meal. Shanghai Baptist Church at 13435 Elk River Mills Road is offering a free meal each Sunday following 10 a.m. Sunday school and 11 a.m. worship service. Contact: 256-232-0147 or 729-6746.

• Fellowship. Pastor Johnny Jones and Liberty Primitive Baptist Church will have fellowship with New Zion Primitive Baptist at 6:30 p.m. today at 1646 Carroll Road, Harvest.

• Stewardess board. Frazier Christian Methodist Episcopal Church at 1108 S. Hine St. in Athens will host a Stewardess Board Fellowship Program at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28. • Free seminar. Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Athens will host a free seminar titled “A Time for Change” from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Continental breakfast from 8:30-8:50 a.m. Attorney Kevin Crenshaw will talk about the need to get our business straight. Teacher Betty Harris will discuss the impact of discipline in the home, church and school on student achievement. Athens State University Vice President of Student Affairs Denver Betts will address the benefits of higher education on today’s society. Lunch provided. Door prizes available.

• Music celebration. Gospel Musical Celebration 2012 will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Little Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church at 16439 Lindsay Road in Tanner. Free admission. WAFF 48 News anchor Karla Redditte is mistress of ceremony. Guests include MYM Musical Group, Shawn Moore and New Fellowship, Calvin Drake, “The Voice” contestant Wade Brown, Aaliyah Moore, The Gray Sisters and Songbirds of the South. Proceeds benefit Athens-Limestone County’s Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

• Children’s musical. The Emmanuel Baptist’s Children’s Choir will present “Donkey Tales,” a musical by Kathie Hill, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the EBC sanctuary.

• Singing. Truth Baptist Church will host Crosshaven for a singing at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at 19297 Sewell Road in Athens. Contact: Bro. Donald Terry 256-233-2315.

• Fellowship program. The Frazier C.M.E. Church family will welcome the Woodruff family and singers for their annual Stewardess Board (Mother’s Board) Fellowship program at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Contact: Carolyn Lucas 256-233-2104.

• Gospel Meeting. Market Street Church of Christ will hold a Gospel Meeting from Saturday, April 29, through Thursday, May 3. Services will be held at 9:45 p.m., 10:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Market Street Church of Christ is located at 514 West Market Street in Athens.

• Spring Revival. Truth Baptist Church will hold Spring Revival at 7 p.m. nightly Monday, April 30 through Friday, May 4, with guest preacher Bro. Malcolm Carter of Temple Baptist Church in Cullman. • Walk-a-thon. The Round Island Creek Missionary Baptist Women Auxiliary annual walk-a-thon will be held from 6:30-8 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Athens High School walking track. Rain location is RICMBA Mission Center on Lucas Ferry Road. Contact: 256-232-5717.

• Pastor anniversary. New Beria Missionary Baptist Church at 21978 Alabama 99 in Elkmont will hold a second pastoral anniversary celebration for Pastor Corey B. Thomas on Sunday, May 6. Pastor Antoyne Green and the New Life Baptist Church Family will be in charge of the 11 a.m. service. Pastor Ernest L. Williams Sr. and the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church Family will be in charge of the 2:30 p.m. service. Contact: 256-230-0823.

• Stepfamily workshop. Asbury Church, Good Shepherd Church and the Rock Family Worship Center in Madison are sponsoring a Stepfamily 911 Workshop May 4-5, to be held on the Asbury church campus on Hughes Road in Madison. Cost is $25 per family no matter the size. Todd and Tammy Gangl, and four of their six children will teach the workshop. Child care is available for sixth grade and under. • Gospel Meeting. Sardis Springs Church of Christ will hold a Gospel Meeting from Sunday, May 6, through Wednesday, May 9. Sunday meetings will be held at 9:45 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Sardis Springs Church of Christ is located at Mooresville Road at Alabama 251 in Athens. • Ladies conference. The Bee Content Ladies Conference will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 12, at New Oakland Independent Baptist Church. Felicia Paul will speak.     Singing on the Square

    Singing on the Square will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, June 21, featuring Dixie Bluegrass Boys and Tilford Sellers and the Wagon Burners. In case of rain, the event will move to the Limestone County Event Center. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs to the east side of Limestone County Courthouse for the free concert.     Benefit car wash/raffle

    A benefit car wash and raffle will be held from 8-11 a.m. today, June 15, in Applebee’s parking lot on U.S. 72 for an Athens child born premature and now in Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Car wash is $10 and participants receive a $5-off coupon for Appebee’s and are entered in a raffle later this month involving food items from several local  businesses. Donations welcome.     Athens State University will host its annual Flag Day ceremony sponsored by the Athens State Alumni Association at noon, today, June 14, in the Sandridge Student Center ballroom. A cookout will follow. Guest speaker is Lt. Gen. Jim Pillsbury, the retired deputy-commanding general of the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal.
