TODAY

Elkins fundraiser


The Athens High School senior class is selling tickets to a fundraising pancake breakfast, which will be from 7:30-10 a.m. today at Applebee’s. Proceeds will go to the Jessica Elkins Live, Laugh, and Love Memorial Scholarship and meningitis awareness. Tickets are $5 each and also entitle the ticket holder to a free appetizer at a later date.

Firearms show

Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will host an exhibit of historical firearms presented by Tony Gooch, owner of Precision Defense Systems, from noon to 3 p.m. today.

Crape Myrtle Festival

The 18th annual Ardmore Crape Myrtle Festival is from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. today at John Barnes Park on Ardmore Ridge Road in Ardmore, Tenn. Free admission. Donations accepted.

30-year reunion

Part 1 of the West Limestone High School Class of 1980 30-year reunion will be from 2-5 p.m. today at Fish Creel in Anderson. Food served at 3 p.m.

Oak Grove decoration

The Oak Grove Cemetery decoration in the Goodsprings community is today. If unable to attend, donations may be mailed to: Rhonda Long, 27242 Flanagan Road, Anderson, AL 35610.

Flag dedication

A flag dedication ceremony for veterans is at 9:30 a.m. today at the Ripley Cemetery on Friend Road. Public is invited. Call 256-497-7770.

McElyea-Smith reunion

The McElyea-Smith family reunion is at noon today at Clements Baptist Church. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish. Call Sarah McElyea at 256-232-6756.

Silver jewelry fundraiser


Athens-Limestone Hospital Auxiliary will host The Silver Shoppe from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Education Department to benefit the auxiliary. Free engraving is offered on-site.

TUESDAY

AMS mums


Athens Middle School is selling mums for $10. Orders must be placed by Tuesday and will be ready for pickup Sept. 28. Call the school at 256-233-6620.

Blood pressure class


There will be a blood pressure class at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Athens Senior Center. Call Jennifer at 256-233-6412 for more information.

VFW Auxiliary fish fr

VFW Ladies Auxiliary will have a fish fry from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the VFW building on Alabama 127.

Literary Taste tickets


Tickets for the annual Literary Taste are on sale at Athens-Limestone Public Library. The event will be Sept. 20 at the new Limestone County Event Center. Prices are $20 through Sept. 14; $25 beginning Sept. 15. All proceeds will go toward renovation of the new building.
