o Guest speaker. Janice Bynum will speak at Christ Church Light of Love at 13829 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens at 6:30 tonight and at 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. Free. For information, call (256) 431-3821 or 444-0604.

o “The Terrys” will sing at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Courtland Methodist Church. For information, call (256) 233-2315.

o Anniversary. Abundant Life Ministry at 701 W. Washington St. will celebrate its four-year anniversary at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, with Jimmy Bailey as guest speaker. Pastor Eddie Glenn and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church will be in charge of the 2 p.m. service. For information, call Annie Allen at (256) 216-9804.

o Singing. Oakland Church of Christ will have its quarterly singing at 7 p.m. Saturday,

Aug. 1, at 18111 Townsend Ford Road. For information, call (256) 729-8866. Everyone invited.

o Anniversary. St. Mark Primitive Baptist Church will hold its 96th anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. Special guest will be the Meridianville Primitive Baptist Church family and pastor elder Dr. Maurice Childress of Toney. Everyone invited.

o Guest pastor. Clements Baptist Church will host Dr. Johnny Hunt from First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4. Also that night, Scott White, the Woodstock music minister, and its praise team will join the Clements Celebration Choir. For information, call (256) 729-1328.

o Dedication service. Fletcher's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church No.1 will dedicate its new building at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. Elder John L. Clay and St. Mark Baptist Church of Huntsville will be the guest church. The new church is located at 30592 Hardiman Road in Madison with pastor Kenneth B. Lankford Jr. Everyone invited.

    Benefit breakfast

    The Bethel, Tenn., Lodge 194 F&AM will serve a buffet breakfast to benefit charity from 7-9 a.m. Saturday at the Lodge building. Public invited. Nonperishable food items are being collected for the food bank.

    American Legion Post 49 will host a Memorial Day ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Monday at the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives at 100 W. Pryor St. in Athens. Lt. Gen. Richard P. Formica from Redstone Arsenal will be guest speaker.

    Memorial Day help needed
    Local help is needed to ensure every deceased veteran in Limestone County has a flag placed on his or her grave this Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.     SATURDAY                                                                                                                                                 4 Paws and a Book
    A “pawsitive” reading experience dedicated to improving reading skills of children ages 5 and older, called 4 Paws and a Book will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. today at the Houston Memorial Library in Athens. Children can bring their own book or read a favorite of Miss Sophie Grey, a Yorkshire terrier, who will be present for the program.
